UB Liberty Girls Empowerment Group Views "We Wanted a Revolution: Black Radical Women, 1965–85&

Last Friday, the University at Buffalo Liberty Partnerships Program Girls Empowerment Group members got to attend the Black Radical Women exhibit which is currently running until May, 2018. Our wonderful tour guide, Kate led us to some very symbolic pieces of art made during a time when especially black women artists felt the need to voice their ideas, opinions and views of the world. Our students posed many thoughtful questions and formulated many wonderful opinions about the work they viewed. A few favorites were Dindga McCannon's "Revolutionary Sister, 1971" and Lorraine O'Grady's Mlle Bourgeois Noire Goes To The New Museum", 1981. We will be working on an art project ourselves, and it was so nice being in this inspiring space to get us started!
