WHO WE ARE

Setting Students on a Path to Graduation

We are a NYSED funded dropout prevention program serving students in the Buffalo Public School District.

Through effective collaborations with colleges, BPS schools and community partners, UB LPP offers targeted social-emotional learning, college readiness skills, soft skills and workforce development for students in Grades 5-12.

We do this through In-School Services, Summer Programming, Special Initiatives and Engaging Events.

OUR VISION

The University at Buffalo Liberty Partnerships Program Vision

"For all students regardless of economic, social or personal circumstances to have access to a quality education, which will ultimately position them to be self-sufficient, socially responsible citizens and meaningful contributors to their family, community and society."

UB LPP utilizes a push-in model where services are delivered within our partner schools during class time.  Through the Student Success Skills curriculum, students acquire the attitudes, knowledge and skills that contribute to successful grade transitions. This is accomplished via goal setting, progress monitoring and success sharing.

Established in 2015, this program allows rising 6th thru 8th grade students to stay on UB's campus, take mock college classes and complete a variety of activities to increase their college knowledge!

ADVOCACY DAY & EMPIRE PROMISE

Sharing Our Impact Across New York State

Liberty Partnerships is funded through New York State Education Department (NYSED).  In order for us to continue sending students to college and the workforce, we count on stakeholders to mobilize in Albany!  Also, our annual conference brings hundreds of Liberty Students and Parents together to share their accomplishments in Albany.

SPECIAL PROGRAMMING

Initiatives and Trips

College tours and targeted initiatives that align with our mission are also part of our programming.  These services are usually outside of the realm of our in-school activities.  Yet, they can have a major impact on our students and our community.

HISTORY

We were established in 1988 under Section 612, Subdivision 6 of the Education Law.  We are included in New York's Statewide Plan for Higher Education as a strategy to maximize the successful transition of students into graduates, fully prepared for the rigors of higher education.  Graduates will be ready to address the critical workforce and economic development challenges of the Empire State.

“UB LPP is the reason why I'm able to attend the University at Buffalo.  They were able to not only guide me through the college application process but also connect me with very helpful people here at UB.  Without LPP, I would not be where I am today.”
